MILAN — 22 January 2026 — Scientology’s Volunteer Ministers have set up their eu newsroom distinctive yellow tent in Milan, offering a street-level point for hands-on assistance and one-to-one guidance, alongside everyday “Tools for Life” that can be applied to daily problems. Already seen in major cities such as New York, London, Paris, Berlin, Madrid, Rome and Naples, the Yellow Tent is designed to let residents meet trained volunteers directly and learn simple steps for communication breakdowns, workplace stress and conflict resolution, as well as support after personal emergencies.
Volunteer Ministers are community volunteers trained through 19 introductory courses covering communication, relationships, study skills, workplace challenges and conflict resolution. The approach is personal and practical: understand what the person faces and provide an actionable technique.
In Italy, Volunteer Ministers have supported communities during the 2009 L’Aquila earthquake and the 2012 Emilia-Romagna earthquakes, and have also assisted during recent floods in Marche (2022) and Romagna (2023), working alongside local institutions and civil protection actors to help clear homes and public spaces.
In Milan, activity expanded during the pandemic period with sanitisation efforts and support for families in need. Organisers say volunteers then continued with community care work, including over 160 consecutive Saturdays of community clean-up and support, extending across all nine municipal areas of the city, while also contributing to solidarity efforts such as supporting aid shipments to Ukraine.
Ivan Arjona, Scientology’s representative to the EU, OSCE, Council of Europe and the United Nations, said: “Across Europe, communities grow stronger when citizens are equipped to help each other in practical ways—calmly, respectfully and without prejudice. Their work reflects a civic principle: support starts with listening and providing tools that help people regain the ability to act and contribute.”
